I’ve retweeted a few posts from this but the whole thread is excellent! I remember realising how awful and prevalent the Romani racism was when I moved back to England when I was 13. And so little of that has changed!
When people say that Wuthering Heights doesn't have anything to do with race or that no film has engaged with race, what they mean is that for them Romani people do not count and they also haven't been paying attention. I'm going to share a little material from a recent talk. Content note: racism 1/

I'll just focus on the UK context here (because that is the setting of WH). Laws still impact the Roma in a number of ways, particularly travelling Romani people and other travelling groups most notably through the 2022 Police, Crime and Sentencing Act. 35/

Being trans isn’t a reward for good behaviour. It’s fundamentally who people are! To say that’s someone’s right to gender is based on their behavior is bull shit. We have utterly utterly horrid cis people. That just means trans people are *human* trans rights are human rights!

The past three weeks of work have been insanely busy! Started a 11 day holiday this afternoon. I played 9 hours straight of master of magic. (With a break for one tv episode with dinner). I think my brain needed a serious reset! But hey I got a new high score! Looking forward to the holiday now!
