Horrifyingly, the state of Indiana has set up a public website called "Eyes on Education" where people can publicly post screenshots of teachers' private social media posts they disagree with. This is a mass-doxxing initiative, a witch hunt, a blacklist, completely against free speech.

I'm reading Otto Friedrich's phenomenal book Decline and Fall about the collapse of the once powerful magazine Saturday Evening Post in the 1960s and it's made me reflect on the nature of media empires and why they almost always fail. 1/

Last week, after cobbling together revisions of different chunks of chapters, I finally was able to put together the full manuscript of my book and print it out as a single thing. Feels cool to hold on to an object!!

Imagine writing about the burnout affecting healthcare workers (a real problem!) and then quickly seguing into a factless reference to a technology that may or may not solve the problem, that you happen to profit from. Are we printing Benioff's round one VC fundraising slides?

In 2019 I worked Art Basel as an art handler during the first craze of the Cattelan banana (it was actually a plantain they bought from a 7-11 a couple blocks away). Obviously totally underwelming looking at it after hours before the show opened.
