Let’s think a sec, if you look up the number of people deliberately starved to death by Joseph Stalin in the early 1930s, it’s somewhere between 1.8 million and 25 million (mostly Ukrainians). Why don’t we know the number at ALL? He erased the reality.

Käthe Kollwitz, Woman with Dead Child, 1903. This is so hard to look at it but is so exquisitely rendered. It strikes me the parts left out, empty areas of faces mean this could be any mother in any country of any nationality and many ethnicities. Isn’t this one thing we can all understand?
