I wonder if it bothers Tarrantino at all that he's basically a real-life grown-up version of Randal from Clerks?

Watching Dangerous Animals.

I like it, though I keep wavering between wishing the cast was more diverse, and realizing how problematic I'd probably find it if the cast WAS diverse.

Not sure if this says more about me, or society at large.

James Remar and Jason Clarke have remarkably similar voices.

This heaping pile of trash was filmed in the CT town I grew up in. Which is also, ironically enough, a pile of trash.

Women have made:

The best new rock (Warning)
The best new punk (Amyl & Sniffers)
The best new indie (Boygenius)
The best new death metal (Nervosa)
The best new fantasy sludge metal (Castle Rat)
The best new doom/punk hybrid (Die Spitz)

Women fuckin' rock.

Watched House of Dynamite last night.

For me the most terrifying part of that flick was imagining what this scenario would be like under THIS administration, and not the pretend administration where most everyone is intelligent and capable.

I'm...I'm...

I actually want this.

It would amuse me greatly.

So proud of everyone today.

Okay, so I feel a bit weird doing this given the atmosphere out there, but I did something I've been putting off for 5 years and put all 5 Infinity Trials books (and a novella!) in a box set. It's my best work, and I love it dearly.

I waited 6 years to watch Alita. I feel dumb.

I'm always tickled by reviews that state a book/movie/show "doesn't aspire to be anything more than an amusing diversion." As if all art is required to be profound to be appreciated.

News flash, it doesn't.

Two times in my life, I've heard someone who was former military say that "Aliens" was the movie that inspired them to be a soldier.

I've never been able to wrap my head around that.

Just watched Thunderbolts and Superman last night. 5-word review of each.

Thunderbolts - Likable bunch of depressed antiheroes

Superman - No subtlety, I like it

School shootings are horrific and sad and entirely preventable by a culture that just doesn't feel like doing so.

And this kind of maddening coverage is absolutely part of the problem. The fetishization is fucking disgusting.

Let's try doing this again. Today's snipped of WIP:

She stared down at her former mentor. Death hadn’t done anything to relax the weathered crags lining Anansi’s face. For the thousandth time in the past five minutes, she found herself astonished by just how old he looked. /1

Somewhere out there, a fanfic author is right now writing a shipping fantasy where the universal truth of Epstein's death is engaged in a passionate sexual relationship with the embodiment of the concept of trying to pretend Epstein never existed.

Right now, the "create something important" and "create something good" ideologies are warring in my head. I don't think they realize they're on the same side and should, I dunno, cooperate?

Finally watching John Wick 4.

How many assassins are in Paris at any given time, anyway? This seems excessive.

Part of me wants to wonder about what's gonna happen in the off-season, but the larger part just wants to wallow in sadness.
I'm just sitting here doom scrolling and waiting for the Shams tweet.

At least misery loves company, because I know thousands of Celtics fans are doing the exact same thing.

For embarrassingly obvious reasons, mine was Mathilda May as the queen space vampire in Lifeforce.

And so today begins the celebration of the Abrahamic god not killing kids whose parents were fans, but killing the neighbors' kids instead, because the neighbors weren't fans.
