Today @ec.europa.eu released its updated Bioeconomy Strategy — but it lacks the ambition needed to align Europe’s resource use with the ecological limits of our planet.

Europe’s appetite for ever more #electronics keeps growing, while collection and recycling lag far behind -fuelling mountains of #Ewaste across the EU.

How easy is it to buy healthy and green in Europe?

We went mystery shopping in 13 countries and what we found is: sustainable products are mostly cheaper, but not always easy to find.

Supermarkets must do better. Check out our findings and recommendations below. 👇 @eeb.org @beuc.eu

ecolabelled products are mostly 𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘱𝘦𝘳 than conventional ones, but availability varies massively – from 80% of products in Denmark to just 2% in Cyprus and Greece 🧵👇

While #fastfashion brands flood the market with cheap, synthetic garments, much of what we discard ends up in Asia and Africa, polluting water, harming local workers health, and overwhelming local reuse markets.

We must act at the source.

The destruction of unsold and returned goods is an outrage we cannot afford

This week, we warned @ec.europa.eu about the danger of allowing too many exceptions to the ban on the destruction of unsold clothes and shoes

Destruction should ONLY be allowed when reuse is TRULY impossible

Read on👇
Destroying unsold goods is a shocking waste of our precious resources⚠️

The EU #Ecodesign law banned the destruction of unsold #textiles...

...but a raft of potential exceptions risk allowing companies to easily side-step the ban, and keep overproducing and destroying short-lived products 🧵👇

The EU has voted to ban forever chemicals - PFAS - in firefighting foam.

PFAS-free foams are already available and in use so to keep using ones with PFAS is unnecessary.

But PFAS are everywhere - not just in firefighting foam. Now we need a full ban on all uses.
