Almost all hospitals in #Tigray were damaged or had their equipment looted. Now the 30% of them that have been rehabilitated are still struggling to get by, two years after the war, because of lack of government support. Help has to come from (inter)national NGOs and the diaspora.

When all is said and done, the actions and absence of actions by UN staff and organisations in #Ethiopia will be considered below standard to say the least. And it is not just those working on women's rights, but also WFP, Human Rights, IOM, ...
The brutal truth is that what took place in Tigray amounts to probably the worst case of conflict related sexual violence anywhere in the world, at least in recent times. The UN refrains from calling it this, because it doesn't want to reveal that many of its staff were complicit bystanders.

Yes. Peaceful relations with Eritrea are the only way forward. Accountability and redress (and possibly Abiy's unpredictability towards Eritrea and other neighbours) will be the biggest challenges to achieve this.
International support (hopefully through ICC) and pressure are principal.

This claim was also patently false, as Amnesty International had never spoken to the man. @geoffreyyork.bsky.social and I debunked it in a @theglobeandmail.com story at the time, but not before it spread on Twitter, and the innocent man was widely harassed.

Then #AmnestyusedTPLFsources emerged. Video of a Boston man, a Tigrayan activist re-enacting Axum massacre testimony, was coopted by government media, who claimed the man masqueraded as an Axum based priest and duped Amnesty Intl. Below: Ethiopia's Ambassador to the US tweeting the disinformation.
