Actually insane to find out the NSF GRFP is no longer accepting applications from 2nd year graduate students, with no warning... I applied as a senior in undergrad and decided to wait a year to build up skills and my CV before applying again. Guess not...

In the still of the tornado at approximately the same time as this scan (thanks @deldotdel.bsky.social), you can see the debris cloud seen in correlation coefficient. Moving forward we'll investigate more photogrammetry of this tornado, as well as genesis of the second tornado near Arnett

This Sunday, we collected a close range dataset of multiple tornadoes near Arnett, OK in RaXPol. Despite scrambling to find a position, we captured the debris cloud, a debris ejection associated with intense RFD, and surface-layer vorticity worms in the inflow and RFD.

On April 25th, 2025, the TTU-Ka LIFT teams successfully intercepted a tornado near Muleshoe, TX. First up are PPI scans of the main tornado and the "dancing" vortices/subsequent smaller tornadoes captured by Ka2. 1/2. #LIFT #tornado

Be wary a quiet early May. Despite a seemingly slow start ensemble guidance, climo and sub seasonal Analogs paint a much more interesting picture mid to late Month. Especially for the High Plains.

The Rapid X-band Polarimetric Radar (RaXPol) from OU'S Advanced Radar Research Center (ARRC) beautifully captured the tornado near Matador, Texas last night 🌪️

At it's fastest rotation rate, RaXPol can complete a 360° spin in just 2 seconds and a full volume scan in as little as 20 seconds! #txwx

I’m flattered people care about the NWC/SPC, but we’ve got to stop with the false reporting of the ROC lease as the NWC lease. The square footage and annual lease cost are nowhere near in the same ballpark. You guys give me a heart attack every time this happens.
