Craft's Thanksgiving release is a substantial one. Posted to their subreddit on Thursday… A few things that stand out: • API/MCP integration. This is the big one. I've already linked my Craft workspace to ChatGPT via MCP, and it has really interesting potential. The chatbot inside Craft is also very powerful, and it's fascinating to have it tell me things about my notes and act upon them.

Marcos Tanaka's apps are currently on sale. They're all clever, tightly focused, and each one uniquely solves a specific problem without unnecessary complexity. Play is my favorite: a "watch later" app for web video. I use it kind of like how I use Readwise Reader as a "read later" tool for written content. I like to queue up videos throughout the day and then watch them on my Apple TV at night, when I am in a mode more appropriate for long term video.

A colleague turned me on to Harmony Cloud earlier in the month. It’s a new ear training tool from vibraphonist Stefon Harris, and it seems really neat. I attended a masterclass featuring Stefon Harris back in the early 2000s, and something I distinctly remember about his teaching was how well he could communicate complex harmonic ideas in jazz through much more musical and emotive language.

Logic Pro has some new updates. Some of them are novel and cool, but a new feature that captures performance data before the user presses record is exactly the kind of iterative workflow improvement that I love to see. Logic Pro amplifies beat making on Mac and iPad with advanced new capabilities - Apple: Flashback Capture allows artists to recover unforgettable performances, even if they forgot to hit record.2 Users can quickly restore MIDI and audio performances using a key command or a custom control bar button. On the recent episode of Music Ed Tech Talk, Will and I were discussing how rare it is that iPad apps function similarly to their desktop counterparts. DaVinci Resolve is an exception to this standard, and it only seems to get more powerful with every new release. DaVinci Resolve 20 for iPad: Features & AI Enhancements: Alongside the release of DaVinci Resolve 20 for Windows and macOS, version 20 of DaVinci Resolve has now been released for iPadOS as well. I am still hopelessly in favor of a federated social internet, but Rob Shearer shares some very valid concerns about the state of Mastodon, in particular, in this blog post... Mastodon Exit Interview: I am currently winding down the Mastodon bots I used to post sunrise and sunset times. The precipitating event is that the admin of the instance hosting the associated accounts demanded they be made nigh-undiscoverable, but the underlying cause is that it's become increasing clear that Mastodon isn't, and won't ever be, a good platform for "asynchronous ephemeral notifications of any kind".

These are solid updates. I am happy to see iWork apps continuing to get regular meaningful updates outside of the cycle of annual operating system updates.
