WEEK 44
Train Dreams - 8/10
Emotionally resonant parable about nature, modernity and working class decisions.
November 13, 2025 at 9:05 AM
WEEK 43
The Mastermind - 7/10
I loved the recreation of 1970 and I enjoyed it as long as it lasted but I wanted more from the story, really. Alana Haim is criminally underused.

WEEK 42
Gabby's Dollhouse: The Movie - 5/10
Not as terrible as you might imagine because Kristen Wiig is in it.
November 10, 2025 at 9:28 AM
An Extraordinary Full Council has been called in Bristol due to the defection of Cllr Al Al-Maghrabi from Labour to Green.

It means for 6 of the 8 of the policy committees, Greens (if all voting the same way) will be able to pass any policy without the support of any other party.

Good, bad or meh?

The last time a team other than Rangers or Celtic won the Scottish top division championship, I was in nappies (Aberdeen, 1984-85).

It could well happen this year!

Really unclear who "third from left" is in this picture...

WEEK 40
A House Of Dynamite - 8/10
Taut! A third of the way through, I thought it might be about to do a twist and we would be shown two scenarios - one where the nuclear bomb hits and one where it it is destroyed by US defence. The geopolitics is very interesting but is relatively low in the mix.

WEEK 32 (Catch-Up)
The Smashing Machine - 7/10
Great performances, stylistically excellent, superb costume design that captures the last 90s, but also somehow lacking something to push it to the heights of the Safdie Brothers' earlier work (e.g. Good Time). "No fighting."

WEEK 39
All Of You - 7/10
Humorous yet tragic soft science fiction. Posits the idea that the only thing stopping us from true love and happiness is telling our friends what we really feel and not sticking rigidly to scientific method. I can go along with that.

I'm really glad that the Green Party have caught up with the Labour Party on their excellent "No Landlordism" platform...of 1902. #gpconf

October 5, 2025 at 10:44 AM
Who are the 17% of people who are Green Party members who have a somewhat favorable opinion on Keir Starmer? And do they not understand he is a massive authoritarian liar?
October 5, 2025 at 10:28 AM
Perhaps Paula Dodds should focus her ire on those who are criminalising protest (Starmer, Mahmood) rather than those who are opposing genocide and repression (the public she supposedly requires the consent of to be able to police)?
October 5, 2025 at 7:28 AM
