Yay! Look what arrived in today’s mail—the latest issue of Wyrd Science. Can’t wait to read it.

If you’re a fan of SF, fantasy, TTRPGs and board games, I encourage you to take a look. I’m sure @wyrdscience.bsky.social would love more sales and subs!

Finished John McPhee’s “Oranges.” Sometimes you just feel a need to read a 60-year-old book about the history of the orange and the origins and (then) current state of the Florida orange growing industry.

Just finished Automatic Noodle by @annaleen.bsky.social. Absolutely loved this story of a found family of robots who open a noodle shop in a future postwar San Francisco.

Seriously, it’s great.

We have a bunch of poppies growing in the middle of our back yard this year. Didn’t deliberately plant them, so it’s an unexpected treat.

Opening day of Withrow Farmers Market.

My gosh, what a delight this was. Read it in a day. A story that crosses centuries in unexpected ways.

Read John Scalzi’s latest today. Yep, the moon gets replaced by cheese. Sounds ridiculous. But it works! It’s entertaining, and funny, and even genuinely touching in spots.

Quote post this with a picture of the airplane you’ll accept as a bribe.

I love libraries. What a great way to indulge sudden and possibly fleeting interests. Case in point…

Amid all the…everything…I read Vivian Shaw’s “Strange Practice” over the past few days. My wife recommended this book, one of her favourites. Really well-crafted urban fantasy, delightful characters, pacey plot. Loved it.

It’s cold out and the lunacy continues <gestures around.> Time for a board game. Like this one!

Read the first two books of the Janitors of the Post-Apocalypse series by @jimchines.bsky.social over the past couple of weeks. Fun read, lovable characters (human and otherwise), and enough intrigue to make you come back for more. #books

Got my first issue of Wyrd Science today from, unsurprisingly, @wyrdscience.bsky.social.

It’s fantastic. If you’re interested in the world of TTRPGs and their creators, grab an issue — or subscribe!

Damn, I thought “Old Man’s War” was good—but “The Ghost Brigades” was even better. That’s some fine writing there, @scalzi.com.

Aiming to stay away from the news for a while because…reasons. This should help. #ttrpg

Finished William Gibson’s “The Peripheral” tonight. A mind-twisting premise that took a bit of time to come to grips with (or maybe I’m just thick, ha). Once the book gets its hooks in you though, it’s quite the ride. #books #reading

Finished “Old Man’s War” by @scalzi.com last night. Obviously late to the party on this one, but what a great read! More than a worthy successor to “The Forever War” and “Starship Troopers.”

Also I *love* this cover.

Now *this* is a song I haven’t heard in absolute ages. Next it’ll be Billy Squier.

Just finished “A Brief History of the World in 47 Borders” by @jonnelledge.bsky.social. Breezily written, informative, amusing. Go on, give it a shot.

Two stories in and I am loving this book so far. #d&d #osr #fantasy
