This is an east Portland neighborhood superpower: you can live in a good sized house with a big backyard on a tree lined street, but get an Uber in 5 and be at the airport in 15-20. You’re also almost always within 10-15 min walk of bars/restaurants.

If you have not read it yet, I *strongly* recommend reading Ted Chiang’s short story “The Truth of Fact, The Truth of Feeling” on orality, technology, memory. It is brilliant and ties into everything you wrote.

Right next to the random pile or bag of rock and gravel. Very important and unique rocks, they CANNOT be discarded or returned to nature.

They were so great! As someone who only started watching F1 in the DtS era, it’s so interesting to get context for career eras that happened before I started watching.

I’m with you, and feel like an outlier with this opinion: it’s going to make the seasons more interesting to go to different tracks every year. We’re gonna get to Spa in 2029 and be so happy to see it again, more so than having it on the calendar every year.

Some buddhists believe you will be reincarnated forever until you finally understand them.

This is like a monad: see, each individual life is like a container of an immortal soul that gets conditionally passed along, with some transformation during its lifetime…

It’s honestly amazing to me how many niche hobby/collector groups exist, for almost *anything*, no matter how esoteric. $1,451!

At the risk of asking a dumb and obvious question…did the wheel simply just fall off??

Have you considered driving to Point Roberts for each episode release?

I strongly recommend starting here: wesmckinney.com/book/

The first edition kicked off my software career almost 15 years ago, and I still think it’s a fantastic jumping off point.

Damian Lewis has been a part of our media lives for 25+ years now and I am *still* surprised to hear his British accent, simply because his American one is so, so good.

Beautiful machine!

It’s funny how my brain is getting so used to aero across all of the superbike classes that now it’s odd to see bikes without it.

No-aero is still my aesthetic preference, but that ship sailed a long while back.

Currently we have lotteries that cap the price for some, and third party resellers that set a market. The (difficult) question to answer is “what mechanism rewards time and persistence, but doesn’t require the risk of traveling for a physical line and missing out”
