It's been 8 days, since I said goodbye to you, Jake. The pain is still fresh and I think of you every day. I know some day we will meet again. Until then, I will think of you playing with Lucy and all the other pups on the other side. Love you, now and always.

I recently lost my best boy Jake, whom I had the privilege of 10 years of friendship. Your post makes me happy. Love your fur babies every day ❤️!

I didn't bake last week, as I was still recovering from the flu. I made sourdough yesterday. The house was on the cool side and apparently the dough didn't fully ferment. So sad 😞.

I bought a serger and fabric at Joann Fabric, since they are closing. I sewed some reusable 'paper' towels from flannel. I made most the size of a regular paper towel and some smaller ones with the left over pieces. Hoping to stop using/reduce using paper towels.

Today we also made hair conditioner with aloe gel and coconut oil. I will give it a go and see how it works.

Today my daughter and I made laundry soap. I am curious to see how long it lasts. The ingredients cost $66.17. You only need a tablespoons or 2 to do a load, so we think it will last us 6 months to a year? We were using liquid soap previously.

I opened up my winter bed today since the temps were about 65. Watered everything well. My chives are coming up and see the horehound looks green. The garlic is doing well.

I started a ginger bug. I bought 100% fruit juice yesterday and used some of the ginger bug to make my own 'soda'. I am not sure if it was too soon to use it, but it looks like there is some fermentation action. I did burp it today.

I bought some kefir starter from Azure Standard. I am hoping it makes kefir seeds that I can keep. Has anyone done this and been successful? I am giving it a try.

Some air pockets, but delicious. My daughter felt the previous loaf I made was more dense. I try to pop the air pockets. This time I didn't pop them as much. This was a same day loaf. Sometimes I put them in the fridge overnight.

This was the finished sourdough bread today.

I bought some limes today that were reduced price. Three packages cost $2.83. I squeezed the juice from them to store in the refrigerator. It made over 2 cups of juice. I used the rinds to make a cleaning product, by adding vinegar. 2025 is the year of "make it myself" whenever possible.

I had errands to run, but sourdough to stretch and fold. I had to bring her along for the ride.

My daughter and I made some vanilla extract last week. I probably needed more beans, but figured I will get some more and add them. These recycled bottles were perfect for the project.

When you find a box of seeds, that you purchased in the autumn, and it is like Christmas in February! Grow big, or go home lol!

Today's sourdough. One came out a bit taller. I must have worked one more than the other? They will both taste delicious 😋. Polly kitty supervising.

I spent today in the kitchen. I made sourdough bread, and a double batch of granola. It was my first time making granola amd it was quite easy. I also made some crockpot yogurt and an apple cake. It helps keep my mind off the insanity in this country.

It was too cloudy for any star gazing tonight, but I managed a photo of the moon with my Seestar S50.

I bought some food grade buckets with screw top gamma lids. I stocked up on flour, sugar, and jasmine rice and placed them inside the buckets with some food safe desicant packets to keep moisture out. I figured best to stock up in case of emergency.
