@climatehawkvote. DNC delegate 2020-24. Chair, California Democratic Party's environmental caucus.
I'm one of the furious, heartsick voters losing affordable care, and I don't know how I'm going to manage the next 18 months. www.thecut.com/article/demo...

Sitting at a local vote center in purple east Ventura County. The only thing on the ballot is #Prop50 and of course I voted YES to fight back against an autocratic corrupt regime. Steady traffic but no lines.

behold, the Gerrymandered Raspberry Streusel Muffins of California! Show up for a Prop 50 walk anywhere in the state, save democracy, eat some baked goods! Find an event here www.mobilize.us/cadems/

Also I canvassed for Prop 50 today and saw lots of deer roaming around, like this trespasser

#CAGov intrigue: Tom Steyer donates $12M to Yes on Prop 50 and suddenly everyone assumes he'll run for Governor. Gonna be interested to compare his record to @katieporteroc.bsky.social www.politico.com/newsletters/...

Also, vote later for Prop 50 if you're in California. #YesOnProp50

Not just a win, not just a landslide, but a serious Democratic overperformance. In #AZ07, a D+22 district, the climate hawk won by 39 points. Congrats!

Take action to protect our public lands -- not just Alaska but California, Colorado, all across the US. Submit a public comment in support of the existing Roadless Rule! Deadline this Friday! actionnetwork.org/letters/defe...

Last month in Alaska I went hiking in the Tongass National Forest (among other adventures). America's best carbon sink: not just gorgeous, it's useful! Now Trump wants to build roads here, because, well, Trump. Speak out against his proposed Roadless Rule Rollback. actionnetwork.org/letters/defe...

Two words. FAT BEARS 🐻
Yep, it's the famous fat bears of Haleakala National Park!

I hike, stair stepping 1500 feet in 2 miles, to Arctic tundra -- a place where only the smallest plants can survive. Fog turns to drizzle turns to a downpour on an exposed ridge. I finish the hike.

The sheer scale of this place awes all the senses. It's pristine, with a grizzly or moose or a couple of caribou every 10 miles or so.

Its name is DENALI. The Tall One. Not The Mediocre Imperialist Tariffs President.

Beginning to wonder if I am actually in Hawaii
August 20, 2025 at 5:32 AM
I am kayaking! In a very surreal, awesome, mystical place. The mist only adds to the sense of being in an entirely different place.

Hmmm, these crystalline formations of salt? Sugar? Seem very large

I have landed at the famous black sand beach of Haleakalana National Park

I need to report this Harding Ice Field name to the Dept of the Interior Glorification of America Dear Leader agency. If they want to name shrinking things after our worst president, it's no longer Warren Harding.

Here to visit national parks but I think they spelled Hawaii Volcanoes wrong
August 19, 2025 at 2:39 AM
Oh hai people who follow me for incisive political commentary and snark, greetings from Hawaii.
