For @imc-leeds.bsky.social, I created two maps that highlight the explosion of census-taking in the Low Countries before vs. after the mid-15th century. This development follows Burgundian hearth count reforms but is also present in areas outside Burgundian rule. #MedievalSky

Let's kick off for real now. After years of development, version 8 of the 'Historical Atlas of the Low Countries' has been published.

v7: 3.500 spatial units (Holland, Zeeland, Brabant, Hainaut, Artois, Liège)
v8: 16.000 units covering the entire Low Countries

My dissertation on the Utrecht Chronicle of the Teutonic Order (or Jüngere Hochmeisterchronik) was published in 2021, but last month our edition and parallel English translation came out as well:
