When layoffs happen the survivor guilt among those that remain (or even other folks at other companies hearing about layoffs) can be intense

So if you are a manager who survives a layoff or notices the distress in your team at the news of a layoff elsewhere what can you do to help?

1. The goal of playtesting is to assess validation of design intentions.
2. Playtesting is one of several methods used to collect feedback on a game and does not invalidate stuff like usability or accessibility feedback.

Games User Experience Research Tip:

Setup a peer review system for every report/presentation that goes out

*I cannot recommend this more strongly*

Peer review is like a UX test for your research + it keeps everyone on the team up to date with what work is going on

Fantastic thread I want to piggy back off of:

When I first meet with a game team I start with asking them 'tell me about your game experience'

And they almost always start talking about systems and mechanics; 'It's a hero shooter'

I immediately counter with: 'But how do you want players to FEEL?'
Let me over-explain. Hero shooter is a how. A how needs a what. "Hero shooter" is how you achieve what you're trying to achieve in a game, but WHAT you're trying to achieve is more important for long term fun than HOW you're doing it.
