🌊🐢Researching sea turtle ecology to inform conservation
Overexploited for their beautiful and malleable shells, hawksbills suffered major declines.

They are very rare in West Africa, with a small population nesting in Guinea-Bissau.

We saw 5 this August, including our oldest record, nesting since 2007! 🤩🤩

So happy to be able to study green turtles at Prampram, Ghana! Very small juveniles forage along the shoreline, and John (in green) will use genetics to find which population they come from 🌊🐢🧬🤩

Magical to see so many grey reef sharks in a healthy reef in the Maldives 🤩🌊❤️🦈

Poilão Island is truly magic 🤩 the sacred status of this island among the Bijagos people contributed to the conservation of one of the largest green #seaturtle populations globally
