I’m super excited to share my first first-author paper! 🥳
We found that different accessions of Lathyrus sativus respond differently to Erysiphe pisi powdery mildew infection.

Have you ever wondered why pumpkins are never purple or blue like other plants? 🎃🌈

While most plants can produce pink, blue, and purple pigments (thanks to anthocyanins), the Cucurbitaceae family 🍈 🍉 🥒have lost all the pathway genes to produce these pigments.

First post on Bluesky!! ☀️

Very happy to share that my main postdoc work ‘Systematic Discovery and Design of Synthetic Immune Receptors in Plants’ is finally out on Biorxiv!

The full story is summarized here:
Systematic Discovery and Design of Synthetic Immune Receptors in Plants
Plants deploy a diverse array of pattern recognition receptors (PRRs) that perceive microbe-associated molecular patterns (MAMPs) to activate immune responses. Leucine-rich repeat receptor-like kinase...

1/ Transposable elements are often called "jumping genes" because they mobilize within genomes. 🧬
But did you know they can also jump 𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘯 cells? 🤯
Our new study reveals how retrotransposons invade the germline directly from somatic cells.

I want to dare you not to make an #ODAP question whenever you listen to a #Lathyrus sativus talk, I promise it's a fun exercise! 😅
For those who still do not know, lathyrism only occurs if you eat a grass-pea-only diet, which will NOT happen with how we eat. Stop the stigma!! 🛑 Lathyrus is great 😁
