So I try not to give too many gory details about life with long covid, but I also think it’s important to give a clear picture of what can happen to anyone.

Over the last yearish, I’ve become allergic to more than 70 foods. Today I lost soy. I’m not how long I can keep eating at all.

also, there are plenty of text to speech tools that just record and don't analyze and they've existed for nearly my entire life. we've got to stop allowing people to conflate direct, non-generative tools with genAI when they have a financial incentive to do so

What if I told you...the Republicans are going to let people starve anyway
I'm mad about the shut down and worried about healthcare, but not letting people starve is a pretty good reason to cave on this bureaucratic fight, the more I think about it. So just say that: Republicans wanted you to starve rather than compromise, so we let this one go.

RIGHT OMG GIVE PREMEE ALL THE MONEY

I would read and then pause, just thunderstruck at her prose
Reading The Siege of Burning Grass by @premeemohamed.com and honestly it is a crime that publishing hasn't given this woman a million dollars to just write books forever

Her prose is beautiful, her worldbuilding exquisite, her characters fascinating

Reading for awards?
Here’s my eligibility (a couple of stories still to come in Nov and Dec). If you only have time to read one story, the one I’m most hoping people will keep in mind is “Through the Machine.” Thanks. 🙂
A reminder that you can find all my 2025 eligible work right here: www.pacornell.com/2025-awards-.... Thank you for keeping my stories in mind when nominating or voting for awards.

while also firmly believing all of the current discourse drastically understates how bad the shutdown pain has gotten and what that ultimately imperils

Still super stressed about this.
Pat and I just got our medical insurance renewal. Our monthly rate is going from $763 to $2,323.

Our deductible went up too.

We knew it was going to be bad with the subsidies expiring, but holy hell ...
November 11, 2025 at 12:45 AM
Again, no freaking surprise.
The Senate has rejected a plan from Sen. Tammy Baldwin D-WI to extend the expiring Obamacare health insurance subsidies for 1 year. Party line vote.

You can laugh at my desire to yell at politicians. You can tell me the answer is to elect better people.

But the next election is a year away,

Ppl are staring down the barrel of losing their health care in two months.

I see your callousness towards the ppl who are facing death right now.
