Like this is literally the hazing script a pledgemaster would give to a pledge to get him to do an elephant walk or whatever

If Satan is sewing tares right now then the seeds are despair and loneliness. People have become atomized in their lives yet more connected than ever through social media. In their inability to hope for a better future, they are resigned to lashing out in their grievances.

In light of yesterday's incident in Palm Springs, I'm thinking about this reflection from the Italian years of lead compared to today. The American years of lead are here. It's more atomized yet there's a strange quantum entanglement between these individuals in their nihilistic acts of despair.

It was originally written about the Italian years of lead. A period of chaotic violence on ideological grounds. There's many parallels to today, but what makes our own historical moment horrifying is the lack of ideological grounding and even more atomized violence

A sense of paranoia and generalized grievance sets in with no clear referent. Just people lashing out at each other. I find this particular quote a great description of most social media beefs nowadays.

What I really love is this concept of "depletion" that the citizens feel after writing for the library. Instead of feeling more understood they feel drained and empty. Even more atomized as their deepest thoughts are now in the open to be picked apart and scrutinized by others.

Okay I've been reading this Italian novel from 1975 and it is downright creepy how well it predicted both the horrors of modern social media and Deridas concept of hauntology. "The 20 days of Turin" by Giorgio de Maria

Compare the "net Jewish" row to the rows on the bottom

Well since you're so interested in my original comment, you may be interested in the Jewish lesbian author I paraphrased it from. I'm not offended by the hypervigilance I see from Jewish folks, I get it as a queer person, but I'm going to lovingly point out that it's not healthy and even harmful.

I've been thinking a lot about what it means to love my enemies like Jesus would in this current political moment. Meditating on these verses in particular. How can I love those who actively hate me and want to take my rights away?
