Home of Bitkin, the City of Elseways, Tessera, and whatever else the Wandering Mind sees fit to turn its energy to. Current project: XenoDesk, a paraductivity suite.
Some time ago I drew a six-armed Glaceon girl; this is what she's become. Cris is the newest and youngest member of the Silver Lining crew, from a world of technology so advanced it's nearly dreamlike (it's where her custom body was made). Despite this, she prefers Elseways' chill vibe.

Spent some time revising the Elseways metro map. This isn't to scale, but you can still see a lot about the city here. I've filled in some more areas and rerouted the rail lines (because they were geographically impossible), and also given them names.

Farran d'Ouais (I spelled his name wrong in the picture, sorry Farran) is Capt. Bandersnatch's cartographer, navigator, part-time valet, and loyal Number One. He's also a person-sized living plush — a Clothling cuckoo — fleeing his species' parasitic reputation and trying to be helpful where he can.

Of course I lean into this pun. Part of my own brain was singing this to me. Life is a song, Nada Number.

Thought I'd try refining Solomon's design some as I get a better idea of who he is. Sol is extremely laid-back, which is weird for a test pilot, but it makes him take everything in stride; he's hard to surprise. Sol is cool, collected, and full of stories of times things went badly wrong.

Śina, warrior of a hidden kingdom, was a bodyguard-for-hire before Brillig signed her on as a security officer; his ship is where she met her soon-to-be wife Zika. She has a hidden tender side and a lovely singing voice; she's nearly a different person outside her armor.

Started sketching these while waiting for things at work and the lineup is now up to 17 now that a few of the crew insisted on bringing their loved ones aboard.

11th. Brillig J. Bandersnatch is a former pirate currently without a ship; he and his crew are living in Elseways until they can find a new one. He does have a lead, though: the Corps will provide a ship if he returns the favor somehow.

Moreover, I'm a massive Unicode nerd, and I know what else is out there and has been for 50 years now (since the days of the DEC terminal which standardized this extension to ASCII). OSes still make these hard to type for no good reason. Look at all these wonderful things! They're right there! (⅔)

Simka and Solomon have joined the line-up in appropriate places. Neena is here too, but she can fit into the order anywhere. I think maybe … two more should do it. Two or three.

Solomon Parlance in color! This six-armed giraffe stunt/test pilot works out of a hangar on the north end of Elseways, far from where most people live but close enough to get a steady supply of new components to put through their paces.

Pencil sketch of a character I've been trying to work out details of and only just now got to where I wanted him. This is Solomon Parlance, a pilot who earned his extra limbs transporting unstable cargo at supersonic speeds through a spatial anomaly. Another Elseways resident.

LÖVE provides a way to access the data inside specific objects, which is what all this FFI business is about; I thought it was worth showing off the actual logic that does the synthesis. That "math.sin" will be replaced with a selection of wave shapes.

New emoji recommendations are now official! These all seem like pretty good ones (although I wish they'd just make left and right variants of all of the hands and not just a few).

Another experiment in a sketchier looser style - Vidrio, one of my oldest characters. He's a tiger-patterned humanoid gryphon, adoptive brother to Vesta, and tends to stumble accidentally into adventure. I think this style is getting somewhere.

I think Google Maps is having some issues recognizing roads that aren't perfectly grid-aligned.

Professor Principia, math wizard, is a newcomer to Elseways. When the school where she teaches was transported into the city, grounds and all, she wasn't sure what to make of the wild and colorful population, but she's learning, step by logical step, that there's no reason to fear it.

Taeko Tashiyama, one of a family of multi-limbed tanuki who manage a hot-springs resort up in the hills. Taeko split from her family, though; she went to college for a chemistry degree and now works for the city's water bureau.

Sketch sheet of Cheq López, one of Elseways' homegrown celebrities. He sings, he dances, he plays guitar, and he draws large crowds. He's secretly a jackalope, but his horns are invisible most of the time.

If you see this, quote post with your favorite Pokémon. (wrong answers only)

Ed Merfel, posing for some experimental sketching around. I want to get back to drawing more often and I think Elseways would do well to have a simpler style. The strange thing is I wrote Ed's story so he'd just fade into the background, but he hasn't. He's still here.

I wanted to do a pixel version of Vivid and somehow it turned into this Halloween-flavored picture of Neena in a witch dress and Vivid filling in for the obligatory bubbling green goo in her cauldron (although if you do ever see Vivid starting to bubble, get far away).

Running sprite of BJ, showing off his new coloration. This was fun to work out, and I think this is a good size for a four-armed creature to not lose too much detail.

I'm still trying to figure out how to post small sprites without BSky expanding them into illegibility. How's this look?
