Devart has a SSMS toolset with a lot of the same features as SSMSBoost that i use a lot. Better intellisense, query history, search results grid, and more. Plus some other tools that you can launch from SSMS like schema compare, data documentation, and data compare.

What distro did you try? I've been happy with PopOS.
