We had an internet computer and a not-internet computer. The internet hookup only existed in one room, so in a different room there was an ancient desktop that had only Word, Paint, and individual mp3 files.
What’s a real thing from your childhood that kids these days would find completely foreign?
Like, how we used to be able to walk right up to the gate to meet our family coming off a flight.

Been wondering lately if it was mistake to keep calling it “Twitter” to spite Musk. Twitter used to have real and actual value; X is just a cesspool. But still calling it Twitter made it harder to walk away b/c of what it was & folks never had to accept what it became. Until hopefully maybe now.

Every time I see conservative fearmongering about how dangerous the NYC subway is, I feel the need to defend it. I grew up in Ohio. It’s cars that are dangerous. It’s car accidents that are terrifyingly common. I’m not being dramatic when I say the subway is one of the best parts of my life now.

The entire premise of the story only works if you think affirmative action made being Black a cheat code, which a lot of "liberal" whites absolutely do
They deemed this story newsworthy b/c the NYT & many of its elite white readers are still obsessed with race-conscious college admissions. Now after finally winning at SCOTUS anti-affirmative action folks can only attack it retroactively.
