this seems pretty obviously corrupt.

This buffoon is the HEAD of the DOT. His "reason" for cutting CAFE standards is...wood-paneled station wagons? Imagine you run a $146 billion agency & you're on national TV to defend your insane policy. Then you say something this dumb.

Welcome to The Best Cabinet in The History of The World.
Sean Duffy on slashing fuel economy standards: "This rule will actually allow you to bring back the 1970s station wagon. Maybe a little wood paneling on the side. We can bring back choice to consumers."

"Never spread the lie in the headline" should be a hard rule of 21st century journalism.

Research shows that repeating lies helps to spread them, and people read headlines more than they read stories.

Unfortunately, in US journalism it is considered neutral to spread a lie, but it is considered "biased" to call out a lie. So, there is a structural asymmetry that rewards colorful lies with virality.

Trump now does all his press avails sitting down. He is in pain, obviously. Plus, this way we can't see his decaying skin or swollen cankles. Here, they seem to have debuted a new location for him to rant and insult questioners while staff adds more gold-painted swirlies to the Oval.

ICE going after Native Americans is the perfect (disgusting) metaphor for the sick, depraved, racist work they're doing.
Indigenous actor Elaine Miles of "Northern Exposure" was detained by ICE at a Redmond bus stop. When she showed them her Tribal ID, they told her it was fake.
Native American actress gave ICE agents her tribal ID. They called it 'fake,' she says

Consumer sentiment has sunk to one of the lowest levels on record. Views of personal finances are the lowest since 2009. Meanwhile, BLS skipped the Oct CPI report & will delay the Nov report till 12/18. Oh, and insurance premiums are ballooning for everyone, ACA or not. Happy Thanksgiving.

If they had any integrity, the next actual journalist to interview musk would raise these points (in a factual and non-gotcha/sensational manner) and get him to address the actual impact (bigger deficit) of his DOGE antics.
All DOGE accomplished was purging critical government staff, handing private data to outsiders, and sentencing thousands in developing countries to death by gutting USAID.

I don’t say this lightly: if there were any justice in this world, the people responsible for this devastation would be in jail
DOGE 'doesn't exist' with eight months left on its charter
U.S. President Donald Trump's Department of Government Efficiency has disbanded with eight months left to its mandate.

If I’m understanding this correctly, X is owned by a white nationalist who pays poor people of color in developing countries to pretend to be working class white Americans to scare other white Americans into being afraid poor people of color from developing countries are going to ruin America?

TEN MONTHS IN:

The national debt is higher.

The trade deficit is wider.

The inflation rate has worsened.

The unemployment rate is up.

Seems bad. But I’m sure Scott Bessent can explain how this is a) Biden’s fault and b) actually not important.
Auto repossessions are now its highest since 2009. And the U.S. now has a record $1.7 trillion in auto loans. Meanwhile... U.S. subprime auto loan delinquencies are its worst in 30 years.

Opinion | I believed Hillary Clinton was a sex trafficker because one of her donors owned a pizza restaurant and "cheese pizza" has the same initials as "child pornography." Here's why I don't think Donald Trump's multi-decade best friendship with a sex trafficker connects him to sex trafficking.

His habit of cussing in speeches is accentuating. We seem to have lost any expectation of formality, dignity, or honesty from this cretin. Imagine Obama saying “ass” repeatedly in a speech. We’d STILL be hearing about how horrible it was today, decades later. Expect zero coverage about this, though.
Trump: I am the biggest negative person on windmills. They ruin your locations. Every time it goes around, you lose money. And I just hope that some of these countries that are losing their ass, we have countries that are going bankrupt because they're putting windmills all over the place.

Given the fact that Epstein’s BEST FRIEND is now President, despite numerous photos, videos, flight logs, and gross birthday cards between them, I’m confident that anyone receiving a tip from him will be in the clear.
Rep. Greg Murphy: "I do have some concerns because these files are voluminous and just being named does not make you guilty. If Epstein gave you a tip or something if you worked at a door or something, it doesn't make you guilty of a crime."

Our government is torturing people whose primary violation is a civic offense. The country I was raised in abided by the 8th Amendment which says that Cruel and Unusual Punishment shall not be inflicted.

But we as a nation have abandoned that document, haven’t we?
