Lemme know if you figure it out. I am curious now. :)

I got a thing, you got a thing.

Any God worth the name would at once encompass all points on, and utterly transcend, any silly mortal sorting schema like "gender."

Okay, we have a winner
November 14, 2025 at 4:03 PM
...with that last part, I had thought so, but I am wary of underestimating your righteous anger.

If they're incriminated, go after 'em. IDGAF about party affiliation there.

"The content of their character" is either the standard to judge someone by, or it isn't.

I urge Swift implementation of your proposal.

For $200, please, Alex.

By the time you find one someone will have beaten you to it. With their own blood if need be. Oh, I'm perfectly fine, what bandage?

You said "sorry for being unfun" not long ago about something else, but honestly, I—a fun and funny guy (really, my mom told me)—constantly find myself agreeing with your posts on All This. You're (dare I say we're?) not unfun, some shit just ain't funny.

Not available in my region. Still, I genuinely hadn't heard about that.

UBI. If not now, soon. We're gonna need it.

Nationalize health care (but don't fuck the transition up, that will just cause as many problems as it solves).

And my own soapbox: As it is commonly produced, meat is murder. (Though the guy who wrote that song is now a xenophobic, hypocritical dick.)

Banality of evil.

Yeah. Like even if Allen was dead, I wouldn't be able to enjoy it. And I liked AH and other WA movies so much in college that I wrote papers (plural, IIRC) on them. This is before I had really thought about, learned the details of, and let sink in what he had done; even then, it was bugging me.

Oh also, it was made before he did the things he OPENLY ADMITTED to doing. Last year, he settled a suit out of court by a different woman who said he had done it to her, as well, in 1973—presumably around the time Chinatown was being made. My spidey sense, it is a-twitching.

That's my same policy, close to word for word.

I remember being sent to review The Pianist. I liked to review movies with no preconceived notions, so I read nothing about it beforehand. I had a whole lot of emotions and a glowing review in the chamber and ready to go, then the end credits ran. I was so pissed.

I just don't plan to generate revenue that Polanski will see by streaming his films while he is still alive.
November 14, 2025 at 11:53 AM
For me, "favorites" are fine. "Idols" are not. "Heroes" should be rare as hen's teeth, and even then, they usually end up doing something that sucks.

Meeting Gaiman ca. 2000 at a signing is the first and only time I remember being properly starstruck. I want nothing more to do with him now.

And I am actively angry that Polanski is Polanski, because I am certain Chinatown would be one of my favorite films, but I will not watch it.

Sucks. Tough.
