@bathecho.bsky.social with everything going on in the world I think some people would enjoy this story, and I want Trek Bath to get as much credit as is humanly possible for being utterly amazing people.
TREK BATH IS THE BEST BIKE SHOP IN THE WORLD. Claire recognised my bike on the way in to work and said “that’s not meant to be there” and TOOK IT INTO THE SHOP!! They called me and refused any sort of finders fee. I do not deserve people like this.

The government wants to impose a system of local government EVERYWHERE.

But what of communities - like Sheffield & Bristol - that don't want this?

#democracy - it would be a good idea

So,as a little thought-experiment, tell me something about the United Kingdom that works well and is actually quite impressive. I am not trying to sound like some boosterish politician. I just genuinely believe that making people believe that all is lost is a convenient pretext for shady characters.

Two important announcements over the weekend in preparation for the removal of de minimis in the US on May 2 for e-commerce goods.

(Don't know what that is and why it matters? Explainer in the link below)

I once gave a talk at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge

"How many of you get around by bicycle?" I asked. A lot of hands went up

"How many of you started cycling only when you moved to Cambridge?" Most hands remained up
I always think of the Dutch people who cycled everyday but then moved to say Britain and stopped using a bike. And also then the people going the opposite direction who do the opposite. It’s all driven by the built environment and art of the possible, not life outlook.
