Semi-retired Systems Engineer who can't proof-read - my website is https://rbsystems.net
Appalled by Brexit and horrors it has released. Want a #ReturnToDecency and people to think
Here for friendly / reasonable discussion (preferably about systems!)

Back in July 22 I was lucky to go to a conference in Detroit
After, I visited the Detroit Institute of Arts

Being ignorantly, I had never heard of Diego Rivera’s murals, so when I saw them there I was blown away by scale and vibrancy

Finally (!) done the jigsaw I bought

So here I am in Turkey
Two days of workshops on systems engineering - we’ll see how it goes. First professional gig of this type (what I expected to do£ since ‘retiring’

Hope I get to see a bit of Ankara as well - more than view from hotel

Been posting a picture of my latest T shirt
Here is me wearing an older one earlier this month

For those interested one of main points of my speech (and why I wore the T-shirt when presenting at large event) was that modelling should help us ‘stay curious’ rather than just summarise what we know

My latest T-shirt
It is a simple Systems Thinking thing - what you see depends on your perception, so someone with a different perception will see something else when they see the same thing

I bring you the dubbit!
When wearing it looking down I see the duck.

No major celebrations or party planned tonight

But am putting some fizz in the fridge ready for later

This bottle chosen in no small part due to the jollity of the labelling and the positive vibe it propels

Personally I have high hopes for 2025 (1st full year retired), but fearful for the world!

At least two of these decorations are older than me (and I’m old)

#StampCollecting

I know the Stanley Gibbons catalogue shows the prices you have to pay to buy from them

But this Nigerian 30 Naira stamp of a lion from 1993 is listed at £6.00 each

I’ve got 67 used copies of this them - pretty much in same condition as photo
What could I realistically sell for?

Christmas tree is up!

Having a daughter doing Art at university means she feels qualified to tell me I have no clue about decorating / taste and so I’m banned from the process

Have to say it’s looking better than when I’m involved!
