It's been a minute since I wrote an article, but I created a new blog post about Application Gateway for Containers (AGC). It's the latest load balancing solution in Azure specially designed for AKS and implements Gateway API.

The fact that Trump has finagled his way into being branded as someone trying to save TikTok even though he started the push to ban it is some nasty work. Democrats better learn how to play this game, if it's not too late.

Tale of a Kubernetes node-feature-discovery incident
This is the analysis of a low severity incident that took place in the Kubernetes clusters at the company I work at that taught me a lot about how to think about the off-the-shelf components we bring ...

But DEI is a problem 🙄
So let me get this straight.

If you apply for a job at a grocery store, you have to undergo a background check.

But, if you apply to be Director of National Intelligence, you don't?

Got it.

I'm not sure why ppl like Slack as an enterprise tool for communication. The aggravation of searching across multiple channels & workspaces to find a message you received is a PITA.

It took a few days to a couple of weeks to get verified on Twitter. On Bluesky, you can self-verify in minutes with your website as your username. Plus, our moderation team is labeling impersonation accounts within days (not weeks)!

To be clear, we do have plans for scaling, we just kinda expected more than a couple days notice before getting blasted with a million new users a day.
The team is rapidly deploying fixes and new software to adapt. More servers in the mail.

Fixed it

Bluesky feels like the promise of social media - a platform to empower users to interact on their terms. Decentralization is great & the execution here gives users control of their experience. Discussion in the digital town hall is now based on lies & hate. #Bluesky offers a needed escape

I'm afraid the tech job market is gonna suck for awhile. Even if layoffs begin to decline, there's still a large number of job seekers compared to available jobs. And new roles aren't being created fast enough to srink the pool of job seekers at a fast rate.
LinkedIn data highlights pandemic-era overhiring: from 2018 to 2022, hiring spiked 89% for product managers, 79% for HR, and 43% for engineers.

Layoffs are now blamed on overhiring and AI tools that let teams write more code with fewer developers, driving a major shift in the job market.
Tech jobs are mired in a recession
White-collar hiring is in a huge slump. Here's who's getting hit the hardest.

Here's a bookmarking option. Best workaround I've found so far.
#bookmarks #blueskytips
One workaround for the inability to bookmark posts is to reply with a 📌 and then follow a special feed. But...that creates a ton of spam—a single post followed by dozens of replies that consist solely of 📌s.

Instead, subscribe to this labeler, and report a post to it in order to bookmark it.

Excellent snippet on how it started
How the foundation of Bluesky was built is so crucial for the future of social — so much so that @rmac.bsky.social & I wrote a whole chapter about it in our book. From day 1, @jay.bsky.team was insistent on independence, a decision that was extraordinarily prescient. (1/2)
