My sense about Musk is that he is a state-level actor who constitutes a threat to the U.S. and Western Europe and should be considered an enemy in (explicit or implicit) alliance with other enemies of "the West." Any post-Trump U.S. government should make canceling his government contracts Job 1.

So, Musk seems "totally uneducated, uncultured," impossible to deny really. Musk brands himself as a "defender of Western Civilization" without being part of Western or any civilization and that's one of the not insignificant things going on with the American right, an abandonment of civilization.

Pelosi is easily the greatest Speaker of the House in my lifetime. Her work in her second term as Speaker from age 78 to 82 was great and she was dominant over Trump when dominance mattered. Pelosi lost touch a little during the 2024 campaign but less so than much younger figures like Ezra Klein.

To me, the main thing with Yglesias is his post-2016 hostility toward Democratic voters and our anti-Trump, anti-GOP militance. My thought is that he's always wanted friendly debates with Libertarians and is bitter that it's no longer possible. Not unlike Joe Lieberman, Bill Maher, and Fetterman.
