The weekly magazine TIME has chosen its person of the year: Donald Trump, who has had a resounding electoral success that has brought him back to the White House. However, the choice, has been met with a yawn, as it was rather predictable (moreover, Trump received the same recognition in 2016)

Every now and then, someone among us takes a look around and wonders: what happened to optimism? Why has it vanished? Just a few days ago, a renowned New York Times columnist (and 2008 Nobel Prize winner in Economics) - Paul Krugman - was the latest to ask this question.

Coca-Cola: A Tale of Two Futures
To truly grasp the zeitgeist, I recommend the new Coca-Cola Christmas ad. We see the iconic red truck with its sparkling lights rolling into an American town, signaling the start of the festive season.

Summer UK temperatures have warmed faster than global average temperature.

But the very hottest days have warmed 4x faster than the global average, especially in south-east England.

Global warming is not "just" 1°C or 2°C. The effects of climate change are non-linear, especially for extremes.
