This is the Tufts PhD student who seized by masked agents on the street and jailed for two months because she wrote an op-ed calling for the school to divest from Israel.
BREAKING: A federal judge ordered the government to restore Rümeysa Öztürk's SEVIS student record after it was wrongfully terminated in retaliation for exercising her freedom of speech.

This allows her to fully engage with the opportunities of her PhD program.

When I was in high school, my friend got so mad because I wouldn't stop running the Maryland I in NCAA 06 that he just turned off the console at half time and went home

Here is what makes me the most mad about Jimmy: Him taking the job and then leaving now puts us in a far worse place than if he had never taken the job in the first place. He is now a net negative because we lost a whole fucking year to get ready for 2026.

That’s why he can fuck all the way off.

Tomorrow is National Miners Day, which probably isn’t a big deal in your family, but it is in mine and I’m working tomorrow so we’re doing this tonight

The Labor Department barely acknowledges WHY December 6 is set aside, so I’m going to turn the mic over to my mom for a minute

Generative AI doesn’t belong in the creation of news content. It shouldn’t replace trusted human labor - especially at an independent news outlet that has been building huge amounts of public trust through deeply reported investigative work.

Stand with the ProPublica Guild!
It's simple — @propublica.org workers should not be replaced by artificial intelligence. Our contract proposal specifically says that generative artificial intelligence ("GAI") should not be used to replace employees. Management struck out this entire section in their response to our proposal.

I didn't mention it in my bit on this story from earlier this week, but one of the most dispiriting things about this, beyond how predictable it was, is that all these elected officials care much more about doing shit like this than they do about the University of Oklahoma continuing to exist.
The Oklahoma House of Representatives gave that girl an award for writing a terrible essay? For getting a trans person fired? This whole thing is an op.

i'd go even further and say there is a reason even nixon kept this kind of stuff to himself. you would have to go back quite a bit to find a point at which is acceptable for a president to say anything like this *in public*, to say nothing of in the oval office.
I don’t want to be pollyannish about the past, but it was basically inconceivable twenty years ago that a president would say this publicly
Trump: "It’s a hellhole right now. And those Somalians should be out of here. They've destroyed our country. And all they do is complain, complain, complain. You have her. She’s always talking about the Constitution provides me with – go back to your own country and figure out your constitution."

On the day that @opb.org CEO Rachel Smolkin posted this video, saying OPB’s funding gap of $5 million was closed, I was also told by the Chief Content Officer that Hush was canceled. Eighty percent of my income, and my health insurance - gone. I was given no reason for the cancellation. 1/x

OPB has closed this year’s $5 million budget gap created when Congress ended federal funding. Our work is not done. A strong future for free and fair journalism requires your support.

"All of this falls apart if humans don't adopt the tech. This is why you've seen Meta cram its lame chatbots into WhatsApp and Instagram. This is why Notepad and Paint now have useless Copilot buttons on Windows. This is why Google Gemini wants to "help you" read and reply to your emails."
Analysis: OpenAI is a loss-making machine, how can it survive?
Don't call it a bubble! Loss-making monster OpenAI is on the hook for $1.4 trillion (with a T) in compute commitments. How can this go on?
