This is an important distinction precisely because companies deliberately conflate LLM / "gen AI" with what the majority of "machine learning" actually is, which is mostly regression analysis. If you throw them all into one bucket and call it AI, the latter is bringing up the average utility a lot

Look, if you're not an expert you wouldn't know, but this chart is bullshit. They could not possibly measure this as 1. How can you tell for sure? There's no reliable automated way. 2. You're not counting the many sites that are blocking crawlers now.

I was thinking a little today about how my parent's generation really seemed not just disinterested in their kids' survival but sort of hostile to it. Like I had been told that parents want their kids to thrive but in the older generation I largely found them fuming that we were even here at all.
