So… Less Generals more GIs. Let’s do the math. We are talking about 100 less general officers. That’s right than two platoons of men. So maybe we need to look at it in terms of salary. (1
There's an enduring discussion about how many four-star officers there should be, and it includes thoughtful, nonpartisan people.
That said, we got to current numbers in part by the first Trump administration creating Army Futures Command and Space Force.

Right now, domestic and foreign investors are essentially selling America. They are selling its bonds, stocks and currency, and the outlook for all 3. They are perhaps also selling the leadership. Tariffs and Trump create new equilibria for US assets and markets now saythey're at a lower level.
