I agree with your sentiment but like Gavin and Leon above, I fear that your rhetoric may lead some to dismiss any use of MLR. IMHO, MLR is a perfectly valid tool for testing many hypotheses in observational data - so your point reduces to dangers of exploratory analyses in general?
