😬The Supreme Court will consider whether the intentional creation of a majority-minority congressional district violates the 14th or 15th Amendments.

If the answer is yes, SCOTUS will effectively declare that what remains of the Voting Rights Act is unconstitutional. This is very, very ominous.

If Dems want lessons from Mamdani applicable across the country “it’s less about the ideology, and more about the message discipline of focusing on what people care about and the tactical wisdom of getting out there and talking to everybody,” Pete Buttigieg says on NPR.

The stabbed in the dick legend
It's simply amazing to me that the U.S. spent 70 years (1945-2015) constructing a post-WW2 military, economic, and social world order to its liking, only to turn around and decide it was actually the victim of this order the entire time.

Kwame Ture (Stokely Carmichael) offers a diagnosis of the Democratic Party that remains true today. The party could not then & cannot now offer both liberation & a continuation of existing inequalities & systems of repression. That path of "compromise" only leads to fascist consolidation.

Glad to see Van Hollen choosing to oppose racism. More Democrats should try it!
We should all be disgusted by the flood of anti-Muslim remarks spewed in the aftermath of Zohran Mamdani’s victory in the NYC mayoral primary — some blatant, others latent.

Shame on the members of Congress who have engaged in such bigotry and anyone who doesn’t challenge it.
Attacks on Muslims flood mainstream after Mamdani win
Openly racist rhetoric has become normalized at the highest levels of American politics.

"Their intent: Give Americans a choice between MAGA and GOP lite."
Mamdani blows the minds of the Dem establishment and so-called "centrists" and "never Trumpers" who thought they could hijack the Democratic Party in the name of helping to save it from Trump. Their intent: Give Americans a choice between MAGA and GOP lite. A new generation of voters say, "No."

Still Mamdani won.

No explanation.
None.
It’s obscene.
I keep remembering the 1679 habeas corpus act. It reacted to the king arresting people & without trial deporting them. It began: “for prevention of imprisonment beyond seas.”
Without explanation, our current SCOTUS majority is undoing centuries of justice.
Today’s unsigned, unexplained #SCOTUS ruling clearing the way for removals of migrants to third countries without any additional process is a disaster—not just on the merits, but because of the government misbehavior that it not only refuses to punish, but effectively rewards.

Me, via “One First”:
161. The Court's Disastrous Ruling in the Third-Country Removal Case
The majority did not just greenlight an especially odious immigration policy without any explanation; it did so in a case in which the government defied the district court—twice—with no consequence.
