Most SOF vets in the admin/congress were not part of the JSOC manhunting machine they idolize. As SF or vanilla SEALs they were outside looking in (from train/advise missions mostly) and may have very unrealistic perceptions of what JSOC can accomplish or how scalable its approach is to other SOF.
An extensive air campaign in Yemen, air strikes in Iraq and Somalia, and U.S. troops still deployed to Syria despite an end to the civil war. Why has an administration that is made up of so many figures critical of “forever war” continuing “forever war” unabated? I have a theory.

Maybe the reason Trump can't out-negotiate Zelensky is cos Trump appointed Tulsi who leaks everything to Russia and Budanov knows everything we know so Zelensky in fact knows what we've told Trump to do before Trump does..
