To be fair, the LNP didn’t send the Army Reserve into Brunswick and Newtown while in government…

Hahahahaha. As I was saying to Paul Norton on FB, the Albanese government is a test case for the proposition for progressives/lefties (for want of a better term) that electing overwhelming Labor majorities is the best way to achieve maximal progressive/left change…

This is a good lesson for Australia. If you can't do anything in a 3 year term, you can't do it in 4, or apparently 5. The problem is not the term length, the problem is the culture and incompetence of the politics of the people who rise to the top in our parties.

To be fair to them, there hasn’t exactly been an overabundance of news coming from the government while all this goes on.One might suspect they are happy to cede the attention…

Of course they’re not, but the more housing that gets built the more affordable housing will become.

Maybe it understands the costs of fame and enjoys its quiet life in the burbs.

I greatly appreciate her efforts; but I do wish the people with megaphones connected to the medical research sector would occasionally stick up for the other areas of research when governments neglect or actively take away support.

Yeah. Occam’s Razor applies to politics too.

If you ever wanted to see a massive outbreak of NIMBYism, try putting enough of these on the suburban fringe to actually make a difference to housing availability…
November 7, 2025 at 2:57 AM
Looks like it…but I’d love to know what the hard right’s theory of getting back into government is. They tried the “outer suburban discontent” thing last time and went spectacularly backwards.

They might be of some minor relevance to housing shortages in regional areas where land isn’t constrained, but for the cities where most of us live, WTF would you put a tiny house?

There's a bunch of other categories running at the NZ next gen meetings, including a GT category accepting both GT3s and GT4s. Maybe the elder Slater could have a spin in one of those if he wants a family trip...

Bored and well-funded, clearly.
