Yeah, it's hard to justify a position that any tool is just categorically not useful. Personally, I find them to be useful as an editor/reviewer for both business writing and coding.

Cynically, I think it's because they've realized "only people with iPhones get invited to parties" is a natural extension to "only people with iPhones can be part of the group thread"
