Future us will look back and realise that the countries who figure out how to manage and use immigration for our benefit are the ones which did the best.
I've felt many things as a "pro-immigration fanatic". Anger at the hate, division and bs spread by likes of the Telegraph mainly, but never "humiliation". The evidence is clear, and global, people move, people have always moved, people will always move, and that is an overwhelmingly positive thing.
Dear Mr Trump: what is insurance?
Trump: "I want the money to go into an account for people where they buy their own health insurance. It's so good. The insurance will be better. It'll cost less. Everybody is gonna be happy. They're gonna feel like entrepreneurs. They're actually able to go out & negotiate their own insurance"

It's so important to remember that the energy required to maintain a house at a certain temperature is *exactly equal* to the loss of heat to the environment. That's why insulation is so important.
To be clear, what is being proposed here is to axe the main mechanism for getting Britain’s homes insulated - which is by FAR the best way to reduce household energy bills in the long term 🤦‍♂️

…and also, just incidentally, an absolute non-negotiable requirement for meeting UK climate targets 😬🥵☠️

If she's sincere then it's certainly a good starting point.
MTG: "I'm trying to lead by example to talk to everyone in kindness. We don't all have to agree but that's being an American. And thank goodness for that. Our freedom of speech, our 1A rights, allows us to do that. My personal belief is that I need to set an example by speaking nicely to everyone."

Maybe he's too vain to wear the specs he clearly needs? Either that or he's a wassock.
Trump: "For generations Miami has been a haven for those fleeing communist tyranny in South Africa. I mean, if you take a look at what's going on in parts of South Africa. Look at South Africa, what's going on. Look at South America, what's going on. You know, we have a G20 meeting in South Africa."

It looks like Trump is preparing to further deface the White House (from a live feed of his departure this morning for Miami, Florida):

Why do these guys always hark back to some imaginary 'better' time? Are they scared of reality?
Trump: "They spent $900,093,000 on the catapults trying to get them to work. And they had steam, which worked so beautifully and it has for 50 years, right? So we're gonna go back. Seriously fellas, I want to make that change. I'm gonna do an executive order."

It wasn't fake. It was edited. But Reagan really did spend a five-minute speech – an April 25, 1987, national radio address that the Reagan Library has published on YouTube – to rail against tariffs. It was a full-throated expression of support for free and fair trade.

Behaviour which we've come to expect, but the lack of strategic thinking means that millions of people will see the actual Reagan speech. Some of those who do will feel the scales start to peel away and realise that they've elected a monster.
Reagan's words forecast so well the damage Trump is doing with tariffs that a response to their deployment by this thinnest-skinned of Presidents was inevitable - but just as with today's Conservatives repudiating Churchill, there will be a little backlash www.politico.com/news/2025/10...
