As the current era of magic trudges along it becomes more and more clear that while the themes or IPs or whatever that the designers get handed right be terrible, they can pull it off. The first one was Neon Dynasty. The cyberpunk ninja set should not have been believable or cohesive, but it was.

Idk how y'all play magic like how do you see this shit and go "This is normal and fine, so cards with this symbol are legal in this format but only for X amount of years but not this format but it's in the same pack or a pack with the same name. This is fine, magic the gathering makes sense."

I'm not trying to flame this person specifically because it's super common, they just got me thinking about it
Pile-shuffling does not sufficiently randomize your deck. A properly randomized deck will give you hands like this sometimes, no matter how much you shuffle.

There's a phenomenon in the pokemon community where a few years after a game releases a bunch of people will start saying how it's actually the best in the series, even if it was hated on launch.
I guess it happens in Magic too.

Starting to appreciate MH2 as a top 5-10 set all time. Basically the equivalent of if Masques or Kamigawa kept the foot on the gas and drifted the hard turn into a good format.

I've been following the Magic: the Gathering feed and I love how many new/casual players I've been seeing. Just people taking excitedly about their non-meta standard deck, or sharing their first foils or whatever. This community at its core is great.

This was the first card I owned. I saw it in the case of a game store that doesn't exist anymore, and I needed to have it. To this day I don't know what about it spoke to me, but i have this jerk to thank for introducing me to my favorite game.
