Best guess is that it has mange so definitely not healthy. But like I said, that posture, the feet, apparent size and head shape all indicate raccoon. I’d stake my reputation as an Interpretive Nature Guide and educator in it.

Late in the season - we’ve had plenty of below freezing nights (as low as 20° F) and even a couple of snows, but this Morning Glory Plume Moth was hanging out on the back door the other night when it was milder.

Yes I know I spelled it wrong in the video (sorry!). But check out the colors in this Steller’s Jay - a Corvid related to the Blue Jay.

Spotted this muskrat on the equinox - not super common to see here in Wyoming!

The Wings did not win on fightaversary eve, but Wings head coach Todd McLellan and I shared an intimate moment during the game (even if he didn’t know it)

Happy #caturday from Picket. Stretching out to nap in a sunbeam is good for your mental health.

Our 8yo neighbor came by with gifts for us: crosses he colored, 1 for each of us. Blue for me, pink for my wife, purple for my 14yo daughter and this one for my 17yo trans son. We’re atheists and I’m pretty sure he really doesn’t understand 17yo’s gender, but I love him for it.

My winter happy place: The winter trails in Medicine Bow National Forest. When the world seems like too much to handle, this is place I go to inhale; exhale; inhale; exhale. Calm my mind and soothe my spirit.

Today’s (largely) gravel ride north of Cheyenne, WY. Temps in the high 20’s but a NW wind also in the 20’s made the windchill single digits and added a degree of difficulty.

Took a hike the other day in a place few people in my area know about, let alone go. The mountain lion tracks definitely made me VERY aware of that fact.

Found this unfortunately road-killed gray partridge yesterday just north of Cheyenne, WY. What’s interesting is that Cheyenne is a bit outside their known range.
