Congratulations to @sandiegofc2025.bsky.social on an amazing first year! This team brought San Diegans together all season long. You are already a force in MLS.

Happy Thanksgiving, San Diego! I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve you in the United States Congress and I wish you and your loved ones a thoughtful, special day filled with cherished traditions.
November 27, 2025 at 5:52 PM
Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and families should be celebrating. Instead, they’re struggling with sky high prices. It’s time for the Trump Administration to get serious about tackling the cost of living and help families make ends meet this holiday season.

President Trump says he ‘“doesn’t want to hear about affordability,” but I do. Thank you to the community leaders and nonprofits who joined me for a roundtable discussion on the affordability crisis as families struggle to afford groceries and other bills this Thanksgiving.

Grateful to have earned 100% on the Humane World Action Fund’s scorecard. Animals bring us joy, teach us priceless lessons, and so much more. I will always champion legislation that protects and strengthens animal welfare. My friends Bernie, Chico & Future know that!

On Transgender Day of Remembrance, I’m thinking about our transgender siblings taken too soon by hateful violence. No one should live in fear of being who they are. As a Vice Chair of the @equality.house.gov, I’ll always fight to protect trans lives and build a more tolerant world.

Meeting America’s affordable and reliable energy demand requires building more infrastructure. Unfortunately, these projects are dragged out for years.

We must fix our slow, outdated permit process to build clean, renewable energy faster. 1/2

Energy demand is rising, in part due to new data centers and factories. We must reform our outdated permitting processes so we can build much-needed energy projects faster, meet demand, and lower costs. Thanks to Data Center Coalition for having me yesterday to speak about my work on this and more!

Last week, I joined @nbcsandiego.com to talk about how we move forward after the historically long shutdown. We still need to address the healthcare affordability crisis. I look forward to working with Republicans to make the Affordable Care Act better, not replacing it with nothing.

🚨Great news! My bipartisan Broadband and Telecommunications RAIL Act just passed the @energycommerce.bsky.social Communications and Technology subcommittee. We are one step closer to getting more Americans connected to much-needed broadband projects as quickly as possible.

Great to meet with SDSU Associated Students' Lobby Corps today. I always enjoy sharing my path to Congress with young people getting involved in our democracy. We also chatted about the shutdown and San Diego’s innovation economy. Please keep using your voices to advocate for what you believe in!

The cost of housing is the greatest barrier to prosperity in CA. We must build more housing in walkable communities to tackle this crisis. My colleagues and I are working to ensure critical housing bills, including my Build More Housing Near Transit Act, become law in the NDAA.

Happy Veterans Day! Our Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard are woven into the fabric of San Diego’s community and it’s a privilege to represent those who’ve answered the call to serve our country. I’ll always work to support our veterans and their families who’ve sacrificed right alongside them.

Immigration enforcement shouldn’t be conducted by masked, unidentified agents using unchecked force & recklessly deploying equipment like tear gas. My bill w/ @repdangoldman.bsky.social & @congressmanraja.bsky.social would curb excessive force & make it easier to identify officers acting improperly.

Nancy Pelosi will be remembered as one of the most accomplished and effective Speakers in our history thanks to her tenacity, dedication, smarts, and unwavering compassion for the people. It’s been an honor to serve our nation and California alongside her. 1/4

It’s Day 36 of the shutdown, now the longest in our history. SNAP benefits have run out and President Trump is playing games with Americans’ ability to feed their families. My message to Speaker Johnson is simple: bring the House back into session so we can end this shutdown.
November 5, 2025 at 11:12 PM
I visited MAAC Project to hear about their work to support San Diego families and to hang out with the kids - the cutest meeting of my week. Head Start programs nationwide have lost funding due to the Republican shutdown. It’s past time to come back to Washington and pass a budget.
November 4, 2025 at 11:59 PM
ICE told us we can’t conduct our oversight authority and investigate the amount of people and conditions at their facility because of the shutdown. But they’re being paid and working as normal. If there’s nothing to hide, they need to show us that. We’ll keep demanding answers.

CA50 students rely on Impact Aid to bridge the funding gap for schools that serve military families. The Trump Administration recently laid off Department of Education staff who administer this critical program. I joined my colleagues to demand that they reverse these terminations immediately.

Grocery & energy prices are skyrocketing, & millions are about to lose healthcare. Yet President Trump's priority, per his Press Sec, is demolishing the White House’s East Wing for a $300 million ballroom. The American people didn't ask for a Presidential ballroom. They want affordable health care.
October 23, 2025 at 11:44 PM
Great news for wildfire prevention! The Senate version of my Fix Our Forests Act overwhelmingly passed the Senate Agriculture Committee. Wildfires are the single largest source of particulate pollution in the United States. We must treat this like the national emergency it is.
October 22, 2025 at 4:25 PM
On Saturday, I visited the San Diego Food Bank and talked about their work to support hungry San Diegans during the shutdown. I was happy to lend a hand and bag some produce and donate my take-home salary to San Diego’s food banks.
October 20, 2025 at 8:31 PM
We’re on Day 16 of this shutdown. I introduced the No Budget No Pay Act because Members of Congress should not get paid for failing to do our jobs while federal employees work without pay. We need to light a fire under ourselves to work out a deal for the American people.

This war has caused unimaginable loss and suffering. Now, we must work toward a process that ensures all people can live with safety and security.

On Friday, I visited STEP and talked about their work to ensure military families have the help they need during the shutdown. I was happy to bring diapers for their free diaper distribution event and my take-home salary from this week to support their efforts.
