Republicans couldn't be bothered to restore vital health care benefits for working families in their rotten budget, but they did sneak in a provision that would give millions in taxpayer dollars to a handful of GOP senators. This is corruption, plain and simple.

Welcome to the House, Congresswoman Adelita Grijalva!

After more than 7 weeks of Speaker Johnson blocking Rep. Grijalva from being sworn in—all to prevent a vote to release the Epstein files—I'm thrilled to work with a dedicated public servant ready to fight for the people of Arizona!

I’m a hell no on this betrayal of a budget in the Senate that does nothing to ease skyrocketing health care costs for Americans.

This is an unconscionable betrayal of the people Trump and his allies claim to serve – and the heartbreaking stories I heard today will fill my voice as I return to Washington to join my fellow Democrats in demanding that the Trump administration fully fund SNAP immediately.

Despite billions of dollars in contingency funds available to fund the program, the Trump administration has chosen to use hunger as a political weapon by refusing to release these benefits that over 42 million Americans – including 16 million children - need to survive.
November 7, 2025 at 7:30 PM
Today, I joined a roundtable discussion with anti-hunger advocates and SNAP beneficiaries at the Rotterdam Community Center to learn more about how the Trump administration’s failure to fund November SNAP benefits is hurting families here in our Capital Region and beyond.

Millions across the US are struggling with gambling addiction—and for every person is a universe of loved ones also hurt by this addiction.

Today I stood with some of these families to spotlight the real, human harm caused by rampant, unchecked sports gambling and what Congress must do to stop it.

This morning, I met with Ralph - a Troy resident, a SNAP recipient, and a veteran who fought for this country - who stands to lose access to food assistance at midnight tonight if the Trump administration refuses to use its legal authority to fully fund the SNAP program for November.

SNAP benefits are set to run out tomorrow, but they don’t have to.

Today, I joined anti-hunger advocates, pantry workers, and SNAP beneficiaries in Troy to demand Trump release funds for food assistance and ensure kids, veterans, and families across our nation don't go hungry.

Proud to be in the Town of New Scotland today to celebrate Albany County’s investment of $3.2 million in federal American Rescue Plan funds to deliver broadband internet access to more than 1,000 previously unserved addresses – a critical step toward connecting our communities.

We’re three weeks into this Republican shutdown, and more than a month since the House has been in session. I’m here in DC demanding my colleagues get to work for their communities, end this shutdown, and protect health care for Americans.

While Trump fires federal workers, public servants go without pay, and costs are set to skyrocket during this GOP shutdown, the president is now bulldozing the White House to build a $200 million ballroom.

This administration sinks to new lows with every passing day.

During this GOP shutdown, I’ve heard from so many constituents worried about rising health care costs if Republicans let ACA tax credits expire. Last week, I called up one of those constituents to let her know that I’ll always keep fighting for affordable health care for all.

As we hit Day 15 of the Republican shutdown, I’m back in Washington hard at work for the American people - and getting the message out about our efforts to fight back against GOP healthcare cuts and Trump’s lawlessness.

Yesterday, I returned a call from a Social Security employee in our Capital Region who is currently being forced to work without pay thanks to the GOP shutdown. I’m grateful for her words of encouragement, and I’ll keep fighting for her and all those suffering from this shutdown.

Here’s my message to the thousands of federal workers here in our Capital Region and beyond who have been furloughed, fired, or forced to work without pay thanks to this reckless GOP shutdown: I support you, and I’ll always keep fighting for you.

I’m back at work here in NY-20 after Republicans forced a government shutdown. They could end it today by passing a budget that protects health care, but instead they’re pushing to cut your care and raise your costs. Democrats are ready to reopen government & put families first.

Tonight, I'm wishing an easy and meaningful fast to all those observing Yom Kippur across our Capital Region and beyond. G'mar chatima tovah!
