James E. Clyburn
@repjamesclyburn.bsky.social
U.S. Congressman representing South Carolina's 6th Congressional District.
When my hometown of Sumter, SC is mentioned, I need to set the record straight.

1. That plant was initiated under Biden, not Trump.
2. It's tied to EVs, which Trump calls a hoax.
3. Trump's "big, beautiful bill" will kill thousands of EV jobs.

Facts matter.

Yes, there is a split screen.

Democrats who are fighting to lower health care costs.

And Republicans who refuse to do anything to address costs, and are in fact kicking millions of Americans off their health care.

The contrast really couldn’t be clearer.

Trump put tariffs on things not grown in the U.S. (coffee, bananas, etc.), causing prices to go up.

Then they turn around and remove the tariffs and claim they are lowering prices.

Scott, the American people aren’t stupid.

Trump is sounding like a broken record. When is he going to stop lying?

Undocumented immigrants can’t receive health insurance subsidized by the federal
government. Plain and simple.
November 8, 2025 at 3:02 PM
This government shutdown is about 20 million Americans being faced with huge monthly premium increases or losing health care entirely.

That might be “nothing” to Republicans, but that’s definitely something to everyday people.

Yesterday Trump said he’d violate court orders and continue holding SNAP benefits hostage, forcing Americans to go hungry.

Thankfully, members of his own administration ignored his rant and are issuing partial payments as directed by courts.

Trump is out of control.

Does anyone feel like their wages are rising at record pace while their energy and grocery bills are coming down?
October 30, 2025 at 2:19 PM
Rosa is right. The Trump administration is saying it lacks authority to use the SNAP contingency fund for November benefits.

Not true. They’re illegally withholding the funds to put further pain on Americans during the shutdown.

They have the money, but refuse to use it.
October 28, 2025 at 10:35 PM
The SNAP crisis could actually be resolved if the White House would stop illegally refusing to use a reserve fund to continue SNAP payments.

If Americans lose their SNAP benefits, it’s because Trump wanted them to.

I get a real chuckle out of Republicans saying year after year they are coming up with a health care plan, but never actually showing us what it is.
Republicans gutted Medicaid. Now they want to gut the ACA too. That’s their health care plan.

He then pardoned a crypto company founder convicted of enabling crimes tied to terrorist groups and child exploitation, after the company helped boost Trump’s own cryptocurrency.

Refused to meet with Democrats to end the government shutdown and save health care.
October 25, 2025 at 1:43 PM
Let’s recap Trump’s week:

Demolished the East Wing of the White House—without any Congressional approval—to make room for a $300 million ballroom funded by wealthy donors.
October 25, 2025 at 1:43 PM
Senate Democrats introduced two bills that would have paid ALL federal workers, from military and law enforcement to Social Security workers.

Republicans blocked both of them.
October 24, 2025 at 8:29 PM
The cornerstone of Obamacare is the subsidies—the tax credits that help Americans afford health insurance.

They are precisely why the law works so well for 20 million Americans.

This incoherent question is just Jim Jordan trying to wrestle away Americans’ health care.
October 24, 2025 at 7:41 PM
The White House (or what’s left of it) is working hard to persuade the American people that Trump’s $300m ballroom is a great idea, and spending zero time trying to save Americans’ health care premiums from skyrocketing.
October 24, 2025 at 2:03 PM
Give me a break.

Republicans’ “big beautiful bill” strips Medicaid from 7.5million and weakens the ACA to cut care for millions of others. The cuts were so drastic they had to include funds to try to keep hospitals from closing.

Now they want to cut the ACA even more.
October 23, 2025 at 1:41 PM
I'm hearing from folks across S.C. concerned about health care premiums skyrocketing.

Yet Republicans refuse to reconvene the House so we can address our constituents' concerns.

Mr. Speaker, bring members back to D.C. so we can open the government and save Americans' health care.

75 years ago, my friend Ronald McNair was born.

Denied books as a child at his segregated South Carolina library, he later became the second Black American in space. And today, that library bears his name.

Happy Birthday, Ron. Your legacy continues to inspire us.

Trump's Big Ugly Bill sold out American families to line the pockets of billionaires.

Now, ahead of the holiday season, inflation in the grocery aisle is picking up.

Corporations get rich. American families foot the bill.

This is Trump's economy.

Worried about what next year’s HealthCare.gov plan premiums will cost you?

If Republicans block Democrats’ plan to continue ACA tax credits, premiums will spike for over 20 million.

Find out how much your costs could rise at calculator.americanscovered.org
October 11, 2025 at 1:42 PM
$2,571.

That’s how much health care premiums will increase next year for an average family of four in South Carolina on a HealthCare.gov plan.

Democrats want to end this shutdown and prevent that from happening. Republicans should join us.
October 10, 2025 at 4:29 PM
Thank you to everyone who has shared their Affordable Care Act experiences with me over the past few weeks.

This much is clear: health care is too expensive, reducing these tax credits would make it even more so, and millions would lose coverage as a result.
October 10, 2025 at 3:50 PM
Due to Trump’s tariffs, our farmers are getting slammed. The prices of everyday goods are increasing.

These tariffs are making Americans poorer, not richer.
October 10, 2025 at 1:47 PM
Are you enrolled in a HealthCare.gov plan and want to know how much your premiums will increase next year if Republicans refuse to join Democrats to stop cuts to ACA tax credits?

Visit calculator.americanscovered.org to see how much your premium will increase.
October 9, 2025 at 11:35 PM
Even if the American people could trust the Speaker—which they cannot—preventing ACA premiums from skyrocketing isn’t an issue that should be “discussed, deliberated, contemplated, and debated in October and November.”

It needs to be done. Now.
