Found a local Japanese restaurant of the sort that has actual Japanese people dining in it so you know it's legit. I haven't had a (raw) salmon bowl since I was in actual Japan last year; it wasn't as heavenly as *that* one but still damn good.

The labyrinthine dreamworld towers over a dark ocean. I came up with a new concept for my generative dungeons consisting of themed height layers - not as conventional roguelike "floors", but as a contiguous level of dizzying verticality.

I'm playing Star Rail for "research". It gets more visually impressive with each new locale; here's Disneyland+Vegas. Being entirely new to gacha games (and games from mainland China), even the bad parts like the aggressively dopaminergic mechanics & made-for-censors storylines are still fascinating

Something I imported for v̶a̶n̶i̶t̶y̶ research: a magazine concerning a fantastical fashion subculture. Though it originated in Japan in the 90s, I saw a showcase event at a local anime convention (ACen) some years back, and even visited a shop in SF Japan Town once; it do be worldwide.

I met someone who watched every episode of Detective Conan, which sounds like a crazy amount of time to spend on something so formulaic. But 1000 episodes of anime takes roughly 400 hours to complete, and I've played so many games on Steam for *at least* that amount. Games are scary.

This was a 3-wk. #indiedev battle: a fully original game character. I made an Unreal Engine Control Rig from scratch, which was a learning experience. Animating it is proving to be really fun, though. (It's really unfortunate that BSky lacks video...)
