Jane tells the conference that despite challenging headwinds, the offshore wind sector has seen tangible progress, with 2 successive upcoming auctions securing floating, landmark investment in the North of Scotland such as Sumitomo Electric £350 million cables factory in the port of Nigg 🛠️

The UK is in second place with 78MW across two projects, and China is third with 40MW (five projects). Immediate growth prospects remain strong with 93MW ender construction globally across four projects (two in France, two in China) 🌍

In total, 16 projects are fully operational across seven countries. Norway currently has the most operational capacity at 100MW across three projects.

Despite technical headwinds, floating wind installations have increased by 13% over the past twelve months to 277 megawatts (MW) - up from 245MW a year ago – and are set to grown nearly ten-fold to 2,500MW by 2030 📈
