When my students ask me for an extension on a paper, I’ve taken to asking: “what’s a livable new deadline?” This is a deadline where they can get rest/recovery, eat, stay connected to others, and not fall further behind on other work.

Y’all ever have days where you just feel like “I fuckin love my job!”??? Today veterans in my department took me out for coffee to walk me through the entire tenure and promotion process and give me sage advice on how to set and achieve reasonable milestones along the way.

Something that really sucks about being a professor in this climate is that universities are literally the "battleground" for political conflict and violence and so when something awful happens at a college it triggers anxiety of "what about here" every single time.
