I would have bet a hundred dollars that someone would be whipping around, but no! The next most cliche: hair whipping. xD

Enjoy the Big Bad being utterly, inexpicably terrifying.
In the center of it all, a lone figure stood on the pitcher’s mound, pulling off her leather hood. Her blond hair whipped free into the growing gusts, fluttering around her icy features like a startled bird taking flight. Spreading her stance, the woman squared up with the stadium itself, hands balled into fists so tight I could see the tension all the way up through her shoulders. For a split second, recognition whispered in the back of my mind. Then it was gone. A thrill of fear crawled up me. It clawed across my nerves and shredded my heart with cold, all-encompassing dread. As my throat clenched, my lungs sucked at nothing. I was turning inside out. In the span of a single moment, I lost all but a shred of self-control, and I used it to swath my vision in blackness.

“If you’re not going to the hospital for this, the least you can do is not be a completely impossible patient. Hold still.” After bringing us back to the apartment, Dani sat me down in my temporary bedroom, right on the foot of my temporary bed. Her grip was a surreal mix of firm and gentle as she adjusted my arm and guided my free hand to hold it steady–and glared at me while insisting that I do not move it anymore. Surely, this was for a good reason. But I warred with the instinct to flap it around in her sightline anyway, hoping to see another flare of her delicious indignance that had been in short supply since meeting Damien.

One of my favorite moments from chapter 6, which I have finished frankensteining back together (finally!).

Looks like Dani lost her cool, but, uh... it may not have worked! :O
“Storm is coming,” Quin murmured. She wrapped her arms around herself. Damien hesitated, blinking toward her. Dani’s eyes flashed lightning white and a bolt launched from her hands. A boom resounded, rattling windows for a full block around us. It was too fast to process–but for one instant of horror, I thought Damien was dead. Then the word lit up in a crimson so bright it drowned out Dani’s blue-white glow.

Dani stood in the center of ex-seats and -couches, all smoldering and melted and glowing with the remnant embers of a flash-burn. Blue-white currents of electricity flashed over her hands and coiled up her arms. Her hair lifted ethereally with the static through humming, living air that shimmered with latent heat. A blackened ring stretched from her across the floor, swallowing everything to within three feet of me. Across the room, a million tiny shards of half-melted glass covered everything. The windows had all blown out, and Zachary was nowhere to be seen. “…Fuck,” I breathed.

“Steph, Steph, Steph,” he trilled, once again light and whimsical. “Violence, in my club? You know better, and on such an important night, too. And look at you–you look terrified! White as a sheet. Let’s get you some water and a quiet place to sit.” When he reached me, his hand closed tight around my arm. He hissed in my ear, all whimsy gone. “You nearly killed both of us tonight. If you think I appreciate that, please think again. I’ll have my pretty pretty turrets gun you down the next time you pick a fight in my club.” I didn’t resist, no matter how much I wanted to.

“Alternatively, we can all have a nice long chat about the details of our history together. The four of us.” My raging heart plunged into the ground. I didn’t want to talk to him at all, but if he started dredging up the past in front of the others, I was as good as done for. They’d leave me to clean up my own mess in a heartbeat, money or no. I needed to calm down. Maybe even humor him, if it would keep him off the worst topics. If the others saw me as a slut, I could live with that.

BACK FROM BREAK.
Got the first half-ish of chapter 4 edited. It involved a lot of line edits and about 150 inserted words. I'll have to do a lot of completely new writing for the second half, so I'll get started on that tomorrow.

Here's my fav quote from this part:
All I needed to do was work with a blind eccentric and a judgemental ass to find two terribly powerful thieves I had no information about, all while dodging the law and the wrath of a fae lord. Simple. “Alright,” I said. “Give me your address. I’ll get my shit and meet you there.”

I was a vortex. My shadows bloomed and swelled and seeped over my skin. My hands turned into solid shadow. My vision whited out into a perfect, colorless view of the pitch dark room, which only grew darker as seconds passed. The deeper I reached, the further the black stretched. It gathered around the murderer’s feet and slunk up along the walls. “...There’s another one here.”

'I only had a few moments to look around the bedroom before Dani returned. She preferred a classical theme in her personal decor, with elegant and probably bespoke furnishings, white walls with minimalist patterning, and plush blue accents. It all blended in with the more modern style of the apartment admirably, though simply looking at it burned the message into my eyes: she was very rich and not interested in hiding it.'
