I couldn’t think of anything clever so I’ll leave my humour to your imagination.

Canadian 🇨🇦 PhD Student at Carleton University specilizing in security, intelligence, and defence.

Views expressed are my own and do not reflect those of my employer.
When the government tried to strong arm them back to work it failed. When the corporation tried to gaslight and threaten it failed. When they were treated Better and offered some more reasonable it worked…

Funny that….
Well done flight attendants!

Air Canada, flight attendants reach tentative deal to end strike | CBC News
A tentative agreement has been reached to end the contract dispute between Air Canada and its flight attendants, both the airline and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) announced Tuesday.

Good! I’m extremely impressed by the union standing up for the rights of their workers.

These attempts at strong arming hard working Canadians is a disgrace.

There should be no debate: If you work you get paid. Period.

The government’s use of back-to-work orders and arbitration mandates shows how deeply out of touch they are with the realities of inflation, stagnant wages, and the essential labor these crews perform—often unpaid before takeoff.

Federal labour board deems Air Canada flight attendants' strike 'unlawful' | CBC News
The independent tribunal that administers Canada's labour laws has deemed the strike by Air Canada's some 10,000 flight attendants illegal and is ordering workers back to the skies.

CUPE standing firm against Ottawa’s back-to-work order is exactly what unions are meant to do: defend workers’ rights, even when the government tries to silence them.
Binding arbitration after 12 hours of striking is not negotiation—it’s suppression.
We can’t let this set a dangerous precedent.

The federal government ordering Air Canada flight attendants back to work on day one of their strike is a disgrace.

Stripping workers of their right to strike defeats the entire purpose of collective action.
The Liberals should be standing up for workers—not silencing them.

This is a no-brainer: a Granny who wants to volunteer at a school lunch program has to get a security clearance.
And yet Pierre Poilievre who lives in a 19-room mansion funded by the taxpayer refuses or can't get a security clearance.
Something stinks here.

Pierre Poilievre: a man who's entire life is subsidized by the taxpayer, and he can't even come up with an original idea...

Wild that this guy let alone literally anyone else thinks he can run Canada...
lol Poilievre implied he’s against TikTok and said he’ll be following the U.S. decision closely

And TikTok users are FURIOUS with him

Thousands of likes on multiple comments from people saying he lost their vote:

I'm about "THIS" close to writing some Doug Ford fan fiction about how he renounces his ways as a corrupt business man trying to destroy our education and healthcare to turn to the Liberal Party and kick PP's Milhouse-looking ass in the next election

Imagine having everyone from across the political spectrum condemning your willingness to sell out your country and then doubling down...
An elected official meant to represent Canadians has announced they would rather serve Americans...
Sounds like someone is in their "traitor to the people era".
Looks like Danielle Smith has a flag for her Vichy administration. She gives Trump's stars and stripes top billing. She has blanked out our Maple Leaf with a battle cry for oil giants.
Did Kevin O'Leary help design the logo?
Canada needs to stand up to the quislings.

As with any decentralized movement it's not easy to get a solid idea on numbers - much as I'm disgusted there are still people this uninformed thinking they can bully politicians into doing what they want, I'm curious to see how many bother to show up.

I hate when I've been trying to articulate something for a long time, and then someone comes along and does it perfectly and better than it sounded in my head.

But, yes, this entire thread. And increasingly true for Canada also.
Dems are still operating in a political paradigm where the public has a set of concerns, roughly reflecting the reality of life in America, and elections are about who addresses them better.

But that is not the political paradigm we’ve lived in, for a long time, and we’re getting further from it.
