Hi @bsky.app @support.bsky.team I really liked when I joined how nearly all pictures had AltText. I liked how I could set a reminder to add it. I don't usually need it, but, I like to make it easy for others. Can the default be to need it and someone has to go into settings to turn the reminder off?

My office and NYS HCR are suing Peak, a real estate developer, for illegally deregulating rent stabilized apartments in New York City.

Peak deceived tenants and housing regulators to line their pockets and overcharge New Yorkers as affordable housing grew more scarce.

The Trump administration is starving Americans.

In Georgia, a food bank is running out of food while demand has surged by over 40%.

Yes, Georgia is a red state, but before we go the FAFO route, remember Trump’s margin of victory in Georgia was 2.2%. So a lot of folks didn’t vote for this.

Exciting news: my union @pen-guild.bsky.social won our fight to hold management accountable for rolling out AI tools with no notice & for failing to hold the bots to the same standards all of us humans must follow — in violation of the contract they agreed to. A neutral arbiter said we were right!
PEN Guild wins landmark arbitration on AI protections - Washington-Baltimore News Guild
This marks one of the first major labor-arbitration rulings on the impact of AI on journalism, setting an important precedent for the U.S. news industry.

Hey Mayor-Elect Mamdani, you've got bigger fish to fry but who at the Taxi + Limousine Commisdion is getting paid to put this NewsMax crap (and worse, Bari Weiss's "News For Morons") on the screens in the cabs, replacing local NYC TV news?

so it is very apparent that

1) You are not going to be able to know for sure who or where an order came from, much less if it is legal

2) The President and SecDef will disavow any order that retroactively proves to be unpopular or risky

Young Adult Like a Love Story by Abdi Nazemian It’s 1989 in New York City, and for three teens, the world is changing. Reza is an Iranian boy who has just moved to the city with his mother to live with his stepfather and stepbrother. He’s terrified that someone will guess the truth he can barely acknowledge about himself. Reza knows he’s gay, but all he knows of gay life are the media’s images of men dying of AIDS.

Cool to see this technological innovation driven by a public housing agency.

When power went out across all of Puerto Rico on 16 April, a lot of the lights in the town of Adjuntas stayed on. A combination of experimental microgrids, solar panels, and storage kept power on for many businesses and residents.
