Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell often touts the city's commitment that police will never help federal anti-immigration efforts, but it's easy to see how the federal government can outplay local "sanctuary city" laws if a city collaborates with the Trump Administration on things like "drug enforcement."

This was Harrell's opening argument when he ran for mayor—"I will eliminate encampments so my comfortably housed supporters won't have to see them"—and it's his closing argument now as he seeks a second term. As another testimonial puts it, he "cleaned up the mess" with four years of sweeps.

This is why I've been pro-abortion since I was a child & why I've come to resent the "allies" who attempt to make concessions on bodily autonomy in hopes forced-birthers will become reasonable bigots allowing us a little reproductive freedom as a treat.

There's really nothing less "evidence-based" or fair than a program that lets random residents decide whether you get housing based on vibes. There's nothing less supportive than kicking people out of their housing because they relapse (a primary condition of addiction) with no assistance or notice.
